Profile of Will Traxx by CD Baby
Traxx started his career as a feature MC on DJ Triple C Mix Tapes.
His 'charismatic flow, catchy punch lines and freestyle capability created a buzz on the underground scene.'
Traxx says: “I come from an era where you had to be ready to battle anybody at anytime, so I have been consistently writing my whole career to stay sharp.” “You could be in the South Bronx just hanging with your friends, and the nicest rapper from his hood just happens to appear, and you had to be ready to spit verse for verse to protect your reputation.”
Traxx got his big break by landing a role as the hype man for the Bronx-born rap group Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz. With the amazing success of the group’s debut single “Uptown Baby”, Traxx had the opportunity to demonstrate his ability to move the crowd on a world tour that featured Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, and Jagged Edge.
Quickly recognized for his raw talent and hot 16’s Traxx’s skills would be featured on the single “Make it Reign” off Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz title release.
As a solo artist Will has been building his resume and performing in the process. Renowned as one of the premier party hosts in New York City, he was appropriately dubbed "The Voice of the City.” “I remember the first time I performed at the legendary Rucker Park, I laid it down so crazy that the crowd rushed the court when I finished rhyming. I felt so good I didn’t want to give the mic back.” Traxx’s career highlights include performances with P. Diddy, Doug E Fresh, and a groundbreaking show at Shea Stadium for the “Rap the Vote” campaign. “I got an amazing opportunity to go on tour with some of music’s biggest icons, and now I have to take the knowledge I’ve learned and build my own legacy.”
Since signing with Black Butta Entertainment in 2004, Traxx has released 2 mix CD’s with features by Black Rob, Mac 10, Funk Master Flex, Lord Finesse and many more. Considered one of the best up and coming artists in NYC, Traxx has built a wide fan base and earned the respect of his peers in the process. With his new hot single “One, Two, Three” he is receiving national and international air play on radio stations, at clubs, and in music arenas everywhere.
